
Philosophically Hinduism and it is the same, but practically it is different with some core similarities.
The major difference is in the understanding of Hinduism. The Balinese kids all learn about Hinduism at school and all are well informed about their religion and culture and enthusiastically involve themselves in it’s application and practice.
The whole society is extremely well-organised with village committees called Banjārs that ensure good practice and cooperation and attend the the sick-economic needs of the whole community who may be living in the village.
There are Brahmin high priests known as Pedandas, and Sudra high priests known as Sri Mpu, and village priests. They all get along very well and women can become high priests as well.
Dress is different
- The method of doing pūja is different.
- The calendar is different
- The festivals are different
- The sacraments are different
- The offerings made are different
- The personal discipline during ceremonies is markedly different - the Balinese maintaining remarkable poise and dignity.
