Krishna conscious |
In simple terms, practice Bhakti Yoga and/or Karma Yoga by placing your conscious focus on Krishna as much as possible, and dedicating all your actions as service to Him.
More specifically, here are some ways you can become more “Krishna conscious”:
- Read and study the sacred texts, primarily the Bhagavad Gita. Read them in a devotional spirit, as a Bhakti Yoga practice.
- Chant Krishna’s names and mantras as a Bhakti Yoga practice, as a way of connecting with Him. You can do mantra japa with a mala. You can also prepare an altar with an image of Lord Krishna to chant to.
- Sing kirtan.
- Meditate.
- Live your life based on the principles of Lord Krishna, such as cleanliness, mercy, austerity, and truthfulness. Just as you clean your body daily, also clean your mind through reading the scriptures and chanting. Be merciful and kind to all living things. Never use violence or lie, except when absolutely necessary.
- Spend time with other Krishna devotees.
- Attend a temple where Krishna is worshipped, and participate in congregational worship.
- Eat a vegetarian diet.
- You may also practice Gnyana Yoga and/or Hatha Yoga.
- Ultimately, seek a fully Krishna-conscious Guru to guide you.
