Will marry if Muslim youth becomes Hindu, gives up non-veg food and promises never to return in Islam: Surat Girl submits an affidavit to police.

Yagnesh Bharat Mehta | TNN | Surat | May 2, 2019:: In a first of its kind case reported in the Diamond city, an 18-year-old Hindu girl submitted a notarized affidavit in Katargam police station that she is ready to get married to a Muslim youth only if he agrees to convert into Hindu. She also asked assurance that the youth stops eating non-vegetarian food and never pressurizes her to eat or cook. In her affidavit submitted to police on April 24, the girl confessed that she had entered into a live-in relationship agreement with the youth earlier and wished to marry only if he becomes a Hindu. She stated in the affidavit, a copy of which TOI possess, that the youth should convert with approval of his parents. She also asked assurance that the youth never becomes Muslim again.

She expressed her readiness to convince her parents if the conditions are met and asked the youth to convince his parents for the same. She agreed to get married after detailed court procedure for conversion and as per the court order. She also stated that her agreement to live-in-relationship will be effective only if these conditions are met.

Earlier, the girl’s parents filed a report in the police when she went missing. Police traced the couple and brought them to the police station. She did not go with the youth but went to stay at a friend’s place. In her statement in the police station, she stated that on March 11 she and the youth have applied for marriage registration but now she does not wish to marry if her conditions are not met.

“Police have received an affidavit in which the girl has agreed to marry the youth if he becomes a Hindu,” said a police officer of Katargam police station. __HinduExtence __ TOI.
