BLOOMINGTON, Il USA - Sewa International, a Hindu faith-based non-profit organization is spreading the joy of the holidays with the community. The Bloomington-Normal chapter conducted a food drive. These items were then distributed to several charities in the twin cities.
This is especially as they are celebrating "Diwali", also known as the Hindu Festival of Lights which signifies the victory of light over darkness.
"This is just another great, I don't want to call it an excuse but an opportunity for us to give back in another way. We've been benefiting from Bloomington in numerous ways. This is a way for us to earn money and live here. Our children go to school here, they benefit a lot from the community here. It's our time to give back," Nitesh Kumar, Youth Volunteer.
This year the organization had 80 youth volunteers that reached out to more than 1200 homes in the community seeking the donations for the food drive.
